Restaurant City World Cup 2010 foosball decor
Restaurant City is bypassing their current Lounge Bar theme, and following up on their World Cup 2010 country flags release by bringing a bit of footy flavor to the foodie scene. Eleven new decor items, of which seven are Astroturf floor tiles, are ready to turn your restaurant into a giant foosball table. Each lined tile costs 75 Coins, while a regular green patch of pitch goes for just 40. The Red and Blue Foosball Statues are a hefty 2,700 Coins each, along with a Football Goal post going for 12,000 Coins -- and it's all only available 'til July 13th!
Restaurant City World Cup 2010 decor
Restaurant City Soccer GiftsTwo other limited time offers include the Football Stove and the Foosball Table, which promises to cook "faster than a Brazillian striker on a breakaway", or practically speaking, 15% faster. Foosball Table earns 5 Gourmet Points (the game's equivalent of XP) and 1,700 Coins every 4 hours, and never breaks from use. But these two items require Playfish Cash to purchase -- the stove is going for 20 PFC, while the game table costs 35 PFC. (To give you an idea of cost, $5 USD equals 25 PFC.)
Finally, no game would be complete without a soccer ball and a referee. Restaurant City is offering both as gifts-only items (with the referee portion being uniforms that can be worn by your waiters), so you can get 'em for free from friends.

Happy Island: How to Use Your Salvage Ship
Happy Island Salvage Ship
Happy Island Archipelago ViewFor the first time, Happy Island has released a marine vehicle that isn't a premium -- the new Salvage Ship . Offered for a thrifty 2,400 Coins, it's cheaper than most of the island attractions. After purchase, the Salvage Ship will be in your "My Stash" (a.k.a. storage chest), where you have the option to sell it for 1,200 Coins -- but don't! Because once you figure out how it works, it can rake in big rewards.
Each person is limited to one Ship. You can use it once a day to possibly bring back coins or rare items... now here's where it gets tricky, especially for new players used to tending to a single island. To use the Ship, you must switch your game window over to "Archipelago View".
To do that, click on the globe on the upper right corner of your screen. When you get there, open up "My Stash", click on the Ship, then click "Place" to put it near one of the islands that you own. Click on the Ship again, and you'll get the option to "Salvage".
Happy Island Salvage Ship in the Archipelago
Immediately, a window should pop-up telling you exactly what the Ship has found. In my case, it was 1,000 Coins.
Happy Island Salvage Ship Treasure Recovered
If you want it to search some more, each additional chance to "Salvage" will cost you 2 Facebook Credits, or what's essentially $0.20 USD. (But if you're willing to spend real money, you should grab yourself the Undersea Explorer the next time it resurfaces.)

Mafia Wars Global Cup event extended to midnight tonight
Feeling lucky, punk? You will be if you haven't completed your Mafia Wars Global Cup Collection yet -- the time to collect all six limited edition balls (and unlock a new weapon called 'Injury Time; 38A, 52D, get one step closer to scoring the 'Winners are Grinners' achievement) has been extended to 11:59 p.m. PT this evening.
Since I was out of town last week attending the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, I started this collection super late in the game. So I'm definitely feeling lucky. Today, I've already managed to secure the English Ball, French Ball, Italian Ball, Argentenian ball by fighting and doing regular jobs, and my fellow Mafia Wars friends sent me several Spanish Balls.
mafia wars global cup collection
It has been difficult to secure the German Ball and Brazilian Ball, since those are drops from the special Global Cup jobs. I decided to apply a few hard-earned Marketplace credits to speed up the jobs and did the Alter the Vegas Odds job, which gives you a 50% chance of getting a ball. Sure enough, I scored the German Ball on the second try. Now I'm off to try to nab the Brazilian Ball and complete my collection just under the wire.
Got any good tips on how to complete the Global Cup collection fast?

Happy Pets: New Limited Offer "Pot of Gold" is a cauldron of goodies
Never minding the fact that St. Paddy's was over four months ago, Happy Pets decided to release a premium limited offer item called Pot of Gold for 90 Facebook Credits (or $9 USD).
You can get it for yourself or gift it to a friend. But either way, this pot is a rainbow cauldron of goodies. And it's available while supplies last.
Check it out -- every day, you get one click on the pot for a free prize. That prize could be 1 FB Credit (and you can win up to 14 FB Credits, or $1.40 USD). After that, you'll get a Microcat as the 15th prize (see our Catzilla article for comparison images). Finally, every day, you get 300 Coins forever.

Three Disney brands we want to see on Facebook
Today, Disney announced that its buying social game company Playdom, spending half-a-billion dollars to bring the company in-house. Now, in addition to owning Social City, Wild Ones and My Vineyard, Disney already owns hundreds of brands that would be right at home in the Facebook gaming universe. Playdom and ESPN (also owned by Disney) were already working a series of sports games together, but here's three more Disney brands that could easily make the jump to the social side.
X-Men
Disney recently purchased the rights to the Marvel Universe, and those tights-wearing heroes seem perfect for a Mafia Wars-style Facebook game, starring Wolverine, Professor X and the gang. You'll choose your character, and you and the rest of your superpowered friends will face off against Magneto by doing missions and earning X-points which can be used to buy items for your own customized version of the X-Mansion. Or, more likely, Disney could simply decide to release a version of Marvel SuperHero Squad Online on Facebook in November.
Pirates of the Caribbean
One thing we're starting to see more of on Facebook -- pirates! Who doesn't love a pirate? Zynga's Pirates: Rule the Caribbean game never reached critical mass, but, lately, we've spotted pirates in Treasure Isle, Playfish's Pirates Ahoy and in LucasArts' Secret of Monkey Island: SE on Facebook. Pirates of the Caribbean Online is already out there, and that makes it a swashbuckle away from landing on Facebook.
Tron
Lightcycle racing game on Facebook? Yes, please! Tron Legacy hits in December 2010, and that's plenty of time to rework the classic Tron racing game into something that's a little more socially inclined. We can see it now -- you can race to earn points that can then be used to buy customizable parts and lights for your ride. So far, racing games have been few and far between on Facebook, maybe it's time to put the pedal to the medal. Alternately, a social game starring the Tron Guy would have major geek cache.
tron guy, courtest of laughing squid
Of course, this is only scratching the surface of Disney brands that would be ready to make the leap to Facebook. (My Games.com cohorts mentioned Gargoyles and Who Framed Roger Rabbit as other possibilities.) It's hard to tell whether the Mickey Mouse franchise, Pixar films like Toy Story or Disney's kid-centric Club Penguin will be part of Disney's new social gaming empire -- you have to be at least 13 to play games on Facebook. You'd also be hard-pressed to find parents who would be comfortable with letting their children games in an unrestricted social environment. But, considering the lack of established brands on Facebook, there's plenty of room for a full-on Mouse House invasion in the not-so-distant future.

Playdom's Poker Palace gets World Series of Poker branding
With all the craziness surrounding Playdom and Disney this week, we scarcely noticed that another major-but-not-quite-Disney-level brand hooking on to Playdom's rising star. That brand is the venerable World Series of Poker (WSOP), which earlier this week added their stamp on top of the game formerly known as Playdom's Poker Palace.
The decision to brand an existing game is a bit unorthodox in a world where major brands usually launch their own promotional Facebook games. Still, we think it's a pretty shrewd decision on WSOP's part. There are already a metric boatload of poker games on Facebook, and trying to launch and market yet another one, even with the WSOP branding, would have been tough and somewhat pointless. By pasting their branding on top of Playdom's moderately successful game, which already has an established player base, WSOP saves themselves a lot of trouble and avoids diluting the market at the same time. Hopefully this will turn into a trend, with other companies sponsoring existing games rather than simply cloning them for their own marketing purposes.
An interesting sidenote: The World Series of Poker is broadcast on ESPN, which is part of the ABC/Disney media conglomerate that has announced plans to purchase Playdom. Could this be one of the first signs of the marketing synergy behind that partnership? Probably not, but still, it makes you realize that the Disney stable now available to Playdom extends well beyond animated characters. After all, Playdom is already working on a series of ESPN-branded games,..

Hotel City: Level up in Pirates Ahoy to unlock tavern and Cold North locale
Play Pirates Ahoy! Unlock Hotel City Big North
Playfish/EA's newest Facebook title, Pirates Ahoy, landed on Facebook shores in early July. For the last two months, it's clear that the game has proven fun, but hasn't truly stuck with players. But last week, membership in the game skyrocketed by 3 million monthly average users, and 137k daily average users.
Such a change can be attributed to the fact that -- a week before the increase -- Playfish released "The Cold North" cross-promotion between Pirates Ahoy and Hotel City. So the promotion is clearly working. Now let's see what's so popular...
Hotel City Pirates Ahoy The Cold North location book
Hote City Locations iconTo unlock "The Cold North" in Hotel City, you must collect 15 Golden Pirate Flags. Each level up in Pirates Ahoy gets you one flag, so if you're already at Level 15, the location should already be unlocked for you.
Leveling up 15 times in Pirates Ahoy is no simple task. The game employs an energy bar, and for the most part, you're going to run out of energy quick. This will leave you stewing around for the bar to refill, or petitioning friends and fellow players to send you more food to recoup. All this, of course, is pretty standard stuff. But if you want to see the action for yourself, here's our Getting Started video for the game.
After the unlock, you'll also have access a Pirate Tavern, which nets you 160 Hotel Points and 160 Coins per hour. The offer isn't clear whether the tavern will be free, or if it'll simply be unlocked for you to buy. But once I unlock mine, I'll be sure to update this post and let folks know.

At long last, Treasure Isle introduces treasure mastery + rewards
At long last, Treasure Isle on Facebook introduces Treasure Mastery -- which can be viewed in the newly revamped Treasures collection in the game. Now, when you complete a collection, you'll be able to trade it in for a reward, which generally includes a bunch of XP points and gold or a rare item.
To view your Mastery for a collection, look at the row of four stars at the top of the collection (as seen in the pic below). Right now, it doesn't look like the number of stars will have any impact on your reward -- you will get the same bonus no matter what level you are. Double checking on this new, and will report back.

FrontierVille may soon have a new official home -- FrontierVille.com
FrontierVille might soon have a new official home -- other than Facebook. In our daily browsing, we ran across FrontierVille.com, which -- for now -- simply has a link to the current game (and the Facebook logo). Considering that Mafia Wars and FarmVille both also live on their own dot-coms (FarmVille.com, MafiaWars.com) -- we'll bet our Snake Cannon that we'll soon be able to tend to our virtual piece of the Wild West without the added step of going to Facebook first.

Need new games to play? Applifier redesigns cross-promo banner
Applifier, a toolbar used by many small to medium sized social game developers to help their games cross-promote and grow in size, has undergone a design overhaul. The new design is slick and will help more games grow in numbers and assist players in finding new games on Facebook that they might enjoy.
The biggest difference between the old Applifier design and the new design is the addition of more space and a horizontally scrollin

Mall World unveils new classy Park Ave shop for businesswear
Mall World is all about being glamorous, fashionable, and classy, and that's what the new Park Avenue store is all about. This new mall shop is loaded wall to wall with business attire for those who don't want to look frumpy. This apparel ranges in price, and some of it is available for coins and some requires credits. Some of the items include the Autumn Plaid Tank for $600, the Slouch Blazer for 2 Credits, the Leopard Executive Clutch for 1 Credit, and the Classic Suit Blazer for 1 Credit.
In Mall World, shops are places where you can buy the latest looks for your avatar. This is different from the Catalog, which is where you buy clothing and accessories to sell within your store. The Park Ave. store contains a lot of nice elegant clothing to wear to work, which is exactly where you spend most of your time when you're playing Mall World.

It Girl's collections give out fashionable rewards
It Girl Collections
Crowdstar's new fashion game It Girl has quickly shot up to over 2.5 million monthly players, and it just released on September 19th. This is a pretty phenomenal accomplishment for Crowdstar, and we're big fans of the new game here at Games.com - The Blog!. Today, It Girl has released a huge update with the addition of collections. Collections in It Girl are a new way to win clothing and accessories.
When you enter a store in It Girl, a window will popup that shows you what your progress is on that store's collection. Each store has a certain number of clothing items that you have to discover in order to get a reward. There are two rewards available, one for simply 'discovering' the clothing, and other for buying all of the items. This is almost exactly the same mechanic that you see in games like Treasure Isle - searching for clothing takes energy, and you can find collectibles. The only difference is that the collectibles you find are wearable if you actually purchase them, and you get actual prizes for completing collections other than simply coins and XP.

Sister's best friend: Sorority Life Dalmatian makes a charming companion
Who said you couldn't have dogs in your sorority house? Sorority Life has released a limited edition Dalmatian dog that gives you the maximum charm you can get. What's more charming than a pooch to lick your enemies to death? Dogs can be used to boost your stats for fights (PETA, where are you on this one?) and also just make you look better with a trusty pet by your side.
The Dalmatian can be found in the Glam section, underneath "Accessories". It's pretty darn cute, but it will cost you 15 Brownie Points to make your own. With a Charm of 28 and a Popularity of 10, there is good reason to make this purchase sooner rather than later. With only 12,500 available right now, you better hop on that.

My Empire: Read a book in the new library wonder
Playfish's My Empire has been holding steady lately with over 3 million monthly players, and they've been launching plenty of new decorations and features to keep players entertained. Today, there is a brand new wonder available called the Library of Alexandria. Named after one of the largest Egyptian libraries in history, the Library of Alexandria will be an architectural treat for players who are at least level 37.
The Library of Alexandria does require building to complete, but when finished it gives 1750 happiness and 2500 fame for your ancient civilization. It's quite a large building too, so you will definitely have to clear out some junk and make room for this monument.

Win free Meteor Credits in Ranch Town Halloween Contest
Several days ago, Meteor Games released a new screenshot feature in Ranch Town that lets you take a picture of your ranch and post it to your profile. They have now announced a Spookiest Ranch Contest to make use of this new feature, and the winner gets 2000 Meteor Credits. That's a lot of credits for a relatively small effort. Ranch Town has almost 800,000 players, but the smaller numbers means you'll have a better chance at snagging the grand prize.
To enter, all you need to do is take a screenshot of your ranch using the new screenshot tool, and then post the link in this thread on the message boards. The only rules are that it has to be spooky themed, shouldn't be Photoshopped in any way, and has to be posted in that thread by October 29th. That's plenty of time to decorate your ranch in style and submit it for the contest. We're unclear just how many winners there will be, but it's definitely worth a try. If decorating isn't your thing, you can also just check out the thread to see all of the neat ranches that others have made.

It Girl goes to sunny Melrose in brand new shopping district
It Girl Melrose Avenue District
It Girl is basically the hottest new game on Facebook, having grown to almost 5 million players in just a short time. It's well deserved too, as the game has a ton of content to explore and collections to unlock. Today the new Los Angeles district, Melrose Avenue, unlocks for players who are at least level 36.
If you're lucky enough to be the required level for Melrose Avenue, you'll be excited to see new shops and parties to attend. This means all new outfits, new collections, new girls to battle on the street, and more levels to be earned. Everyone who plays It Girl knows one thing - nobody does fashion quite like Los Angeles. Stores like Sleek Seams and King Blaze will satiate your need to spend all that cash you've been collecting. Those of you who don't have access to Melrose Avenue had probably get to leveling up. You don't want to be left behind when It Girl goes to Paris!

Car Town speeds up with two new limited edition cars
Car Town new cars
Car Town is all about releasing new makes and models of your favorite automobiles, and today two new cars are available to buy and park in your garage.
First up is the 2010 FJ Cruiser, which is a Class C performance vehicle with a 223 performance rating. It gives out 305 experience and costs 26 points. There are currently only 7,407 available as of this writing, but you cannot purchase one for yourself unless you are least level 27.
The second new vehicle is the 1971 Lamborghini Miura SV. This expensive luxury car is a class A car with a huge performance ranking of 535. It is available in six colors, and gives out a whopping 3483 XP. There are only 3,430 of these hot cars left, but they're not cheap. At 375 points to purchase, you may have to save awhile in order to buy this one.
We're not a huge fan of limited quantity items, because they often sell out so quick that players don't even get a chance to log in before they're gone. These two cars are pretty awesome though, so log in soon if you want to make these cars yours.

Baking Life: Who let the dogs out?
Baking Life has always had dogs available for purchase in the store and available for adoption from your friend's wall posts. Today, two new dogs were released in the shop and you can make these cuddly companions your own. Why you'd want to keep a dog in your bakery we're not sure, but they're cute enough that we'll make an exception to common sense.
The two puppies are the Golden Retriever and the Beagle. These dogs will both cost you 20 Facebook Credits and give out 8.9 style points to increase your bakery's value. You can find the dogs in the "Floor Decor" of the store, and they do not appear to be limited.
It doesn't seem that these dogs are adoptable from friend's walls, but it could be that we just haven't found them yet.

FarmVille Dessert Contest promises sweet prizes for tasty treats
FarmVille Dessert Contests
FarmVille has announced a brand new contest today, and this one isn't for the best looking farm. In fact, it doesn't really involve playing FarmVille at all. To participate in this contest, Zynga are encouraging you to get to your kitchen and make FarmVille themed desserts. That's right, cookies, brownies, cakes, pie, you name it. If it has a FarmVille theme, you can enter it in this contest and hope to win the grand prize of 1000 Farm Cash, 1,000,000 coins, and a limited edition item of your choice.
There will be three different categories in the contest - cookies, cakes, and original desserts. Five winners in each category will be picked on December 1st and the 15 winners will be announced on December 3rd. You do need to hold a sign in the picture with your Zynga forum name so that they know that it was actually you, and no Photoshopping will be allowed whatsoever.
This is a neat contest, because players have already made some fantastic looking desserts in the past and there will be lots of great ones to look at.

Protect your friend's hood in Crime City
Crime City is growing rapidly, with over 5.4 million monthly players enjoying the game. New features and items continue to be released at a pace that keeps players interested and keeps the fun happening for everyone.
One thing that is sort of annoying in Crime City is that your buildings have a chance of being robbed when you're not playing. Sometimes you will log in to collect your earnings and resources, and you will lose them all because your building was robbed. Today, Crime City has solved this by allowing your friends to protect your building.
When you visit one of your friends' hoods, you can click on any building with the protect emblem over it. This doesn't use any energy, but you can only do it to one building. It will help protect the building against robberies, and help save your friends some time and money.
We love features in games that make them more social, such as the ability to revive dead crops in FrontierVille. This feature makes visiting your friends a benefit to both you and your friend and we like that.
